Clock Progress & New Mix

Due to a few weeks of sickness and hectic work schedule it's been a while since I have posted much on here.  But I have been hard at work and some serious progress has been made creatively:

For the clocks, I'm using a special material that is made for outdoor signing which means that the clocks will be super durable!  I've also found a carpenter that has done a simply amazing job cutting them to size and drilling the holes for the mechanisms to go through!  Very excited about that!  The first run of clocks are almost complete and that means that *fingerscrossed* they will be up in an etsy store by the end of next week!

We've also had another Insurrection come and go.  This time I made a point of getting a recording of my first set of the night.  There are some small volume issues (due to what I'm hearing come through the club system being different than what was getting recorded) but I think I've fixed them fairly well and I hope that you enjoy it!

Clocks!

I've completed 2 more clocks today - very excited about the project and I have many ideas floating around in my head.  The 2 new clocks are still drying so the clock mechanism isn't shown in these pictures.

In progress.

Clocks & Poetry

I made this!  I plan on making more!  I will likely be selling them - more on that soon.

Would you drink a wine
with the terroir of
discarded shells?
Bombs.
Young
dying at the hands
of their enemy,
while
unseen invited
slave masters
drink of their
chardonnay
mentioning
fruity nose
and not
bitter tears.

I was born a liar.
and every day I grow to be an older
better
liar.
and every time I talk
from birth screams
to “excuse me”
to “pardon me”
none of this is
any part of me
and every day I get better
at being weaker
and sadder
and less myself
and more everyone
else
because
Im a liar
and like you breathe
i say “excuse me”
“pardon me”
just so you can’t see
how far gone I am
and how little I care
You’ll see me
the way you want to see me
you’ll see me as
a shell
less myself and
more everyone else
because Im
a liar
a tired out worn
down liar
the kind that screams
inside and Im weaker
and outside
where you’re smiling
Im cutting
like Maldoror
a smile
so you forget
how much a liar
I really am

I've turned a year older as of yesterday.

Insurrection went very well - lots of new faces out on the dance floor.  Thats always a good sign and something that makes me quite hopeful for the future of the event.
Its fair to mention that I don't write down my set lists while Im playing and that this may have a few inaccuracies - This list is based off memory and the history that Traktor keeps - however, because I use a 4 track mixer its very hard to tell what order I actually played things in AND because I like to loop things and play just certain parts of songs it makes it even harder to nail down an actual list.  Next time I will likely record the live set + try to keep a physical list as I go.  ANYWAY, heres a quick set list:

Song - Artist - Album
Industrial is Dead - :10: - Industrial is Dead EP
Dresden - Ad.ver.sary - A Bright Cut Across Velvet Sky
The Sum of Us All (Rose Red Flechette Remix) - Iszoloscope - OIL Sample 2013
Control - Spoek Mathambo - Mshini Wam
HiLO - ohGr - SunnyPsyOp
Battery Drain - Prometheus Burning - nBoyde raRepi
This Machine - Faderhead - The World of Faderhead
Major Disfunction - Soman - Noistyle
Die Clubnummer - Modeselektor - Monkeytown

A Bench

I don't normally do more than one figure in a drawing so I thought I would have some fun tonight.  So here is a work in progress after about an hour.

2014!

First couple of paintings for the year - Still defining my digital style - Enjoy

"They all started out with bad directions
And the girl behind the counter has a tattooed tear
One for every year he's away she said, such
A crumbling beauty, but there's
Nothing wrong with her that
$100 won't fix, she has that razor sadness
That only gets worse
With the clang and the thunder of the
Southern Pacific going by
As the clock ticks out like a dripping faucet
Till you're full of rag water and bitters and blue ruin
And you spill out
Over the side to anyone who'll listen
And I've seen it
All through the yellow windows
Of the evening train"

Only Beginnings.

Welcome!

This blog is an attempt to create a focal point for many of my creative endeavors.  Over the years I have worked on a grandiose number of projects in an absurd number of mediums.  However, not once have I attempted to create a place for my own works outside of these projects - well thats going to change in 2014! We're bare bones right now but I'm hoping to be adding to this new home quite regularly!

I wouldn't say that I was expecting for the first post on this blog to be a poem.  Nor would I ever call myself a writer or a poet but it was what popped into place the quickest.

a clock tick
tick
ticks
out its own beat
the neighbors argue
over everything important
the children run up
the stairs
creak
thump
the pipes clear
air
rushing past the windows
and you’ll miss it
you’ll miss it when
you’re gone from this place
you’ll miss it if you sleep
and you
you will miss it if you dream
of a quiet that will never come
of a place not here
where the sun rises perpetually
and the stars rotate on your
very
unwelcome command
you wouldn’t realize till
tick
ticks
tock
springs rotting
smell of fresh moss
wet grass
and
rain
then you would notice
the sounds
but not before
and not later still
because that is our way
we are trained to wait
still
as a bat overwhelmed
as an expected metaphor
keep going
you might miss it if your
too
damn
loud
or too ready
to be angry about the sound
of peoples voices
of the verses of that pop song
because soon it will be over
and soon
there will be no sounds
and there will be no music
being made by the very
ground
that we have built houses on
